Neonlichter

Neonlichter’s knack for finding contrasts and polymorphic textures across genres has garnered acclaim and scorn in equal measure, most memorably deemed “complete dystopian garbage”. DJing before they could legally go to clubs, the Toronto-born / New York-raised DJ (now based between there and Montreal) has little regard for stylistic purity or easy classification, with over 15 years of radio experience, having learned and practiced mixing live on the air after midnight in the student centre basement to an unseen audience. Whether through astral zoners, geometric music, low speed chuggers, or transgenre freakouts, the search is always for the space between the notes, regardless of the BPM or if drums even factor into it.

This versatility has led them to play alongside established and cult artists including A Guy Called Gerald, Vladimir Ivkovic, Kiernan Laveaux, Raf Reza, David August, Gigi Masin, Scott Zacharias, Mike Servito, and Jessy Lanza, while mixes for established platforms as Brilliant Corners, Invisible City, The Lot Radio, Underground Love Affair, and Mysteries Of The Deep showcase the depths of their digging and knack for narrative and juxtaposition.

They can be heard on N10.AS every 1st Thursday at 9 PM, on East Village Radio every other Friday at 4 PM, as one third of the Toronto dub-concrète trio Dastgâmachine, and soon with Montréal junglist shoegazers Maisonneuve.
